In 2006 Lynn travelled to South East Asia where
she visited Laos, Tibet, China and Mongolia and then Japan. This
experience fuels the inspiration for her new work, which looks
at tribal identity through clothing and embellishment and also
ancient Chinese communication and rituals. Enjoying the interaction
with local people, but finding that it was difficult with no mutual
language, Lynn decided to use pencil and paper as a form of communication.
She drew portraits of local people, giving them the drawing as
a gift in return for their company.
As well as developing her own creative work, Lynn has worked
with art in the community and education over the years. This
has involved conducting workshops in her specialised area, lectures
on her own personal work to third level students and teaching
general art, craft and design subjects on the following; back
to education initiative scheme, VTOS, leaving certificate, third
level courses, The Tower programme for young offenders, and hobbyist
classes.
